going to be back in singapore soon. don't really enjoy the thought of leaving suds and a lifestyle that i have been so used to, but a girl has to do what she has to do.
positive psychology is my thing for the past few weeks. psyching myself to eat all the good food i like in singapore, do all the cheap thrills that i cannot do in australia, get a CAREER (note: choice of word-not 'job'), hopefully influencing chloe to be a good girl, and to meet some new people (i.e. find a church where i can grow).
i haven't spoke about my rejection from the emirates interview. well, i wouldn't consider it that devastating. maybe i have matured. i thought i would have cried like buckets of tears but i merely shed like, 3 drops of tears. i think i learnt a bit which was really good for the next time i try out again.
i arrived one hour earlier, and was the first person there sitting in the hall. one by one, each girl came to join me. some looked really nervous, some were really well-prepared, some looked over-confident, some had too short skirts. so in total there were 80 of us in the room watching introductory videos and hearing stories from the briefers who are also the 'judges' or interviewers. there was also a short Q&A.
after the briefing we all had to leave the room, and then get a sticker with a position number. since i left the room pretty fast, i was number 5. numbers 1 to 40 were to enter the room again, while numbers 41 to 80 are to come back 1 hour later. in the room, the group of 40 was divided into 2, so there were 20 chairs placed in a circle shape, and we all have to go through a height test and to hand up our resume with the interviewers asking a couple of questions. also while this is being done, we all have to talk to the one on our right to find out who inspires him/her and to give a short introduction about him/her later on.
so we did. the one on my right had to go because she failed the height test and then i had to redo the talking with the new 'right one' again. she was really friendly. her name is fernanda and i can't wait to be able to see her again!
after that round we were given slips of paper which informs us whether we make it through to the next round. basically they will call u up by your number and there is note already prepared with the fortunately or unfortunately text and your number is hand-written on it. the fortunate ones are then told to go off for a lunch break and then to return for the next round.
so we headed off to dome, me with those fortunate ones, some of whom became really out-spoken and quite bitchy. the bitchy ones were the guys...it was quite interesting though not most appealing.
so after the group 41-80 were interviewed, the group of 80 was narrowed down to about 20-25. in the round all of us sat in a circle and were given the task of listing 3 positive and negative things about facebook. in the discussion we can see who hogs the conversation, who gives good ideas, who talks irrelevant things, who keeps good time, who is bossy....yeah. i learnt a lot through that round. i was really nervous and almost didn't speak coz there wasn't a chance to enter such a conversation that switched hands pretty quickly.
i didn't make it though that round. so did like the majority. only 4 got through to the next.
tough life....
im going to try for the next interview! at least i know that there is no maximum cut-off age limit. :)
