work woes

26th April

boss came back today! and she gave me a bag of mars bars from australia!!! wooots! the rest got foiled chocolate eggs.

she's too busy to ask me about my work. :/

27th April

worried about my contract since it ends tomorrow. boss actually thought my contract was for 6 months instead of 3 months!

28th April

it came to me that many people don't like Recruit Express due to:

1. huge pay cut

2. companies not really able to switch staff under Recruit Express to another agency because it is not legal and unethical

3. tbc consultancy and one stop secretariat services would absorb less pay cut.

4. their tendency to subtlety inform you that with your kind of qualifications, the so-and-so-pay is really good already and you ought to take up the job and quit being so annoying

5. send numerous candidates to interviews because they receive $$ each time a candidate turns up for the interview even though the job does not match to their job request

so anyway after the back and forth calling up my agent at recruit express and then the HR dept at my workplace and asking my colleagues for advice, the HR dept came to finally deliver the good news that while they were unable to increase my pay, they spoke to the agency and expressed that if i were to quit, the agency would have to immediately find someone to replace me- so then i got my pay increase!!

:D my pay is now $8/hr instead of $7.50/hr. thank God for koi bubble tea and that i took up the task of ordering for people in the office, including the HR dept and thank God for His teachings to endure and to treat people nicely. thank God for my manager to somewhat acknowledge me and not think that i am a bad worker.

the bad news is that i cannot go out with debbie every so often when she is back in June and i have to work till the day i go off to australia. i realized i have developed the bad habit of spending around $100 each time i shop...maybe due to my shopping alone.

it's very very very bad. i have so little savings even after working for like 3 months. :(
