how a normal cell group meeting is like
in a church, there's usually cell groups. it's like a school with classes or tutorial groups. cell groups can meet fortnightly (as with jonathan's aussie cell) or weekly as my church practice goes.
usually we start with praise and worship. like a mini church service, or like a rock concert, a person will lead the singing and try his/her very best to stir up everyone. there is usually one (or more) guitarist who will play the guitar to make the music sound nicer.
a cell group meeting usually happens at someone's house...usually the house is spacious and with air-conditioning.
then the preaching and sharing of word begins:
here is zoe, our pretty, young, cheerful and wise cell group leader, sharing the message. we don't always have bible teachings; that day we were discussing Adrian Tan's message at the NTU convocation.
here is zoe, our pretty, young, cheerful and wise cell group leader, sharing the message. we don't always have bible teachings; that day we were discussing Adrian Tan's message at the NTU convocation.sometimes teachings will sound repeated and boring, but there is the chance that another person may be so hugely impacted by the message, and there is the chance that someone would be sitting in the audiences, learning and desiring to be the speaker one day and observing intently. more often than not, hearts will be moulded to be more like Christ...although sometimes the cell group will meets its internal conflicts and bicker with one another, at least everyone learns how to be part of the family and contribute to it.
you meet all sorts of characters in the church and cell group... not everyone is perfect... some are very annoying. some may even find me annoying. pictures can never tell everything- behind every fun scenarios and smiling groups of people are those who attends faithfully, chats amicably, writes all those you-are-so-wonderful cards and ultimately, make it work, in the words of the white-haired Tim Gunn.
here is an example of a tired National Service man who came to cell group faithfully, and sabohed by the rest of his cell group members:
and a cell group usually loves the fellowship... some people, like Remy, may dislike it coz he hates small talk. a cell group would like cam-whoring too.
ME!
we also update each other on the latest internet finds...laughing at characters etc. it's tough because everyone comes from different walks of life and we have to find common topics of interest. it requires and hones your socializing skills in some sense.a cell group goes eating too:
more to come next time!
