my dad always say to me: "after you end school, you can be a nun for all i care" coz he's always very anal about the time i spend in church. guess this means i am actually given approval to work full-time if i ever wish to HAHAHA.
then so many people like to encourage me to go into the fashion industry. i just want to acknowldge that it doesnt mean that one who love to wear clothes or even wear outrageously or dress nicely, would be able to do well in making clothes, and designing for the masses. (!!!)
after reading this article fashion's invisible woman i realise that there is actually a great need for the plus-size or more appropriately the average-sized woman in the US, since average would refer to the majority.
"finding a need and meet it" is a phrase that can be used in many contexts, even in the production lines. river island and dorothy perkins strive in comparison to bugis street that hosts clothes from taiwan and the like, not duly because of the air-conditioning, but they provide fashionable wear that goes up to sizes 12 plus- something that bugis street do not have. wouldnt it be great if you could see more plus-sized people dressed in confidence?
then i also see the need for more halal food everywhere. most halal f&b places serve traditionally indian or malay food and it is great that places like Banquet has started to offer chinese food that is halal. wouldnt it be great to have halal italian or japanese food offered in more places than it is today?
given that these needs that are not 'me' meaning that i am far from plus-size (i am a minus-size) and that i do not have to eat halal food, i think i would surely have to meet many obstacles that would arise from my differences.
hence from my childhood dreams of being a pet shop owner/ model/ singer/ actress, i have vastly different aspirations at my age of 21.
should i work to earn the money to invest in houses? or to do businesses and pray everyday that i do not fail since i am not a good manager of details? should i learn fashion and eventually come to create pieces for the plus-sized? should i go into PR and journalism that my qualifications determine me to be? should i be an budget airline stewardess and go travelling as i always wish to do so??
so many things to do in my 20s, yet so little time!
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
