First Day

Changi Airport! singapore's iconic "eiffel towers" or "pearl tower" or "leaning tower of pisa"

we reached there at around 12+ to eat Popeyes and to feel really lethargic from about 4hours of sleep. excited of the thought of the whole trip, my sister start to get trigger-happy at the airport already...

everyone thought that my sister's and my luggages were really pretty and complimented on them:
haha ok only! my dad picked them. he's always trying to be fair and getting me and my sister the same things, if not same things in different colours.

we spotted celebrities filming. most probably doing some promotional videos for terminal 3, where we were at.

michelle chia and thomas ong.

not in picture was edmund chen. there were SERIOUSLY alot of takes. and at different locations too. we even got sick and walked away and to come back and see them filming the same thing still!

to keep up with the festive spirit, christmasy decoration was spotted around the terminal

inside the departure gates, there was Charles & Keith among the likes of Braun Buffel, Burberry, Accessoriez and the usual DFS shops! unfortunately i can't appreciate alcohol as much but the pretty disco ball-inspired bottles of Absolut and the gorgeous salesgirls were a treat even to me.

finally we entered our boarding gate A11 where i had to strip my boots off coz i could not pass through the magnetic scanner. they thought my boots were killer weapons.

embarrassed by it all (lucky my socks didnt have holes), my sister gleefully snapped this one of me wearing it wrong before announcing to everyone that i dont know how to wear my shoes.

i love airplane rides. :) even if theyre budget ones. airplanes are like magical vehicles to me-- theyre the pumkins to the cinderells of me, transporting me throught time (which is true as u travel through timezones) and floats me up to cloud nines and tens and elevens and defying laws of gravity. and the view from the top is always so pretty. i'll imagine God to be proud of his work, looking down from his throne.

civilisation gets pretty when you view it from above.

promoting China Eastern Airlines!

the airplane is really budget.. there wasnt any tv, even the large common ones. so the air stewardess had to do live demonstrations on what to do during emergencies. and the seats were crampy. they didnt give out hearing sets. it was my first time witnessing air stewardess having to get a pail of water to flush down waste matter in the loo coz people couldnt read the chinese instructions and threw things down the toilet bowl. ugh.

arrived at shanghai airport around 10pm! cant remember the name. then we were brought to our hotel. it was a 3star package tour so the hotel was quite small and in a housing area as opposed to city area.

the sofas in the lobby were louis vuitton-inspired.
this is like, the hallmark of being in china.

my sister disliked the hotel very much! but i liked it !

the concept was rather interesting. "open-air" bathroom. u can see a person bathing if you were to draw back the curtains.

a little hanging chinese bedside lamp gives that frugal, chinese commoner feeling. haha!

my family got hungry so we went for a supper at the hotel's diner below where u can choose your own seafood and look at the dishes. pretty cool.

the diner where you sit next to the brothers and sisters of what you may be chewing at the moment. feels like a wet market when u enter it. i wonder how the place is like in the summer.

i believe they dispose the display dishes everyday?! orrr... theyre served to the new customers of the next morning!! gives a new meaning to "the early bird gets the worm".

oh talking about that, i always thought the phrase is ironic and funny. everytime my mother nags me to sleep early by quoting that, i would retort, "the early worm gets eaten".
