it is so repitative, one wonders that this controversial and seemingly entertaining topic is repeated for the sake of garnering press writeups and winning audience over in terms of attaining points for being funny.
the one thing that really got me disturbed in this whole issue is-
WHY BOTHER!!!
coz..
if you were to learn in geography at 14, the best population pyramid is when the lowest layer is the widest, which means there are manymanymany babies.

but when the babies grow to be adults, there should be even moremoremoremore babies reproduced (ie, even wider base) in order to have the healthy population pyramid and to sustain supporting the elderly generation.
hence although it is good for Singapore to have more babies so as to minimise the impact of a greying population, it is not the one and only viable solution. it's time to look into other alternatives, and investing more time and efforts into making sure that this population pyramid theory wont haunt us all the time. reproducing more babies is like digging a deeper and deeper hole to set yourself to climb out of.
for one, businesses should look to be able to centralise its efforts and to harness what manpower they have to match their operating levels. there should also be more hospitals and clinics to be serve the elderly better and an effective elderly care-taking programme for the greying population. create strategies in the outsourcing of manpower...
it makes me cringe a little when i get overworked and become too serious. abrupt ending!
