SIDENOTE
these pictures really make me feel going bald will be ok...

LOL! how...
today's morn class was at le meridien hotel. this picture was taken at the lift! my class's forever taking lift pictures. at mediacorp, at hotel...then afternoon was spent at MDA, east wing of URA building!
watched clips that were censored/ not screened in cinemas/ why they receive R21 ratings.
saw a clip of gay men having sex, was a little stunned and horrified. i mean we didnt get to see the faces of the men, and the quality was so shabby, but it was still so URGH.. i was wondering whether they really did it during filming. do people really have intercourse while filming such stuff or was it orchestrated??
then we watched a scene out of royston tan's 15 but it was blurry. quite low budget as well. a guy taking drugs out of a condom.
then there was the exorcism 1. not the emily rose 2. it was similarly freakish!
then there was tamara. yucks with the guy cutting off his ears and mouth and stabbing that knife down his scalp. even desribing it is disgusting!
i cant imagine these films to be shown/ broadcasted across cinemas in singapore with a lax ratings system or censoring. i'll be quite aghast. there was this girl from another class voicing her opinions-something about her sister and her friends having a thing for such horror-self-multilation films- and that by imposing restrictions, the mda is effectively inconsidering the likes of that niche market and---dont know what she trying to point out also.
the idea of self-multilation is quite a worrying "trend" amongst young teens, especially those in secondary school. and even though teens are "doing" it and even if the pictures and videos of self-multilation is readily available on the internet, and easily accessible, it doesnt mean that it reflects the state of the community and the moral values of society. (ok im going to sound somewhat vickland-ish) showing multilation clips or vulgar language and the likes will really immune a person's sensitivity to crudeness and unhealthy behaviour.
blame it on the internet or whatever-- but if a government organisation could do their best by imposing some form of control--i think that's the best they can do. can you imagine a goody boy who knows nothing about all these bad stuff, coerced to the cinemas to watch such films, coz of peer pressure--and one day feeling suicidal, decides to emulate what he sees on the cinema screens on a emo day--where emotions are especially poignant and the scenes are particularly more impactful than what you see on the computer screen--decides to do something drastic?
artistic and personal preferences aside, it's only good to consider the greater good for society. i dont really care about those views that "singapore citizens get shocked when out of country" and "singapore not artistic- not deep- not cultured.." much as to "increased rates of teenager suicides, self-multilation, homosexuality..."/ sorry im just so conservative that way. i just do not think it takes such scenes to make one cultured? and im pretty sure singaporeans get to adapt quickly when out of a country, that's something that singaporeans have been trained to do since our greatgrandparents arrive on the shores.
i used to argue for lesser censorship but today i change my mind. one thing that remains: i would still wish for more political freedom, a lax ruling on media having political themes etc. it's something i assume everyone would agree upon so i shall not elaborate.
ok no one's going to be interested in what i was blabbering about. my argument's really immature and full of bias.
gahh my eyeballs feel dry now. i want to go shopping!! my sister came home with some cotton on buys and im incredibly jealous.
